Dec. 19, 2006 (China Knowledge) ? Seven economic sectors were listed by the Chinese government as part of an ongoing drive to improve the efficiency of state funds, reported Xinhua Tuesday quoting the State Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC). Armaments, electrical power and distribution, oil and chemicals, telecommunications, coal, aviation, and shipping are critical to the national economy, and hence state ownership is essential. Li Rongrong, minister in-charge of SASAC, said that these sectors are ?vital arteries of the national economy and essential to national security,? He added that more capital will be injected into large State-owned companies (SOEs) which are in these sectors, their corporate structures and competitiveness will also be optimized. Copyright
