At least nine Tamil Tiger guerrillas and a civilian were killed in fresh violence in Sri Lanka, the military and the rebels said. Government forces shot dead four rebels in the Jaffna peninsula on Monday, the military said. The rebels said they lost five men in a battle with security forces elsewhere. And gunmen shot and killed a local employee of the Danish Refugee Council near the town of Jaffna, for which the military blamed the rebels.
