Crime situation stable in first half of 2007

The law and order situation remained stable in the first six months of the year, although the overall crime rate nudged up 2.3%, Police Director of Crime & Security Lee Ka-chiu said. Speaking at a press briefing to review the crime situation in the territory between January and June, Mr Lee said 40,357 crime cases were recorded, compared with 39, 433 cases in the first half of last year.
