Mandatory building inspection backed

The Land & Building Advisory Committee has backed the Government's plan to put in place the proposed mandatory building inspection and window inspection schemes through legislation.


Building sales up 32.5%

The first half of 2007 saw 63,507 sale and purchase agreements for all types of building units received for registration. The Land Registry said this was a rise of 32.5% compared with the same period last year and a 24.1% rise on the second half of 2006.


Building management laws enhanced

The Building Management (Amendment) Ordinance 2007, except for the provisions relating to mandatory procurement of third-party risks insurance by owners's corporations, will come into effect on August 1, the Home Affairs Department says.
