Insurance gross premium up 3.2%

Last year saw a 3.2% rise in the general insurance business' gross premium, to $23 billion, while net premium also grew 6%, to $17 billion, the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance says.


Non-bank China exposures at $545.7b

The banking industry's aggregate non-bank China exposures as at end-December was $545.7 billion, on the $535.3 billion figure recorded in September, the Monetary Authority says. The figure stood at $219.6 billion in June, which was based on the previous reporting scope.


$12.1b surplus for Q4 balance of payments

Hong Kong recorded a $12.1 billion surplus in its balance of payments account in last year's fourth quarter, the Census & Statistics Department says. For 2006 as a whole, there was a $46.7 billion surplus, $36 billion more than 2005.
